Scratch STEM Volunteer help students use Scratch, a beginner-friendly visual programming language, to bring their AI-related ideas to life through animations, games, or interactive stories.
Overview
The Scratch STEM Supporter (InnovateAI: The Challenge) help students in Grades 3 to 8 use Scratch, a beginner-friendly visual programming language, to bring their AI-related ideas to life through animations, games, or interactive stories. Your role is to help students virtually via our customer support system if students get stuck in their code by recording loom videos to show them how to correct their code.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students in learning block-based coding fundamentals using Scratch
Help troubleshoot projects and answer simple coding questions
Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and exploration
Provide positive, age-appropriate feedback and motivation
Preferred Qualifications:
Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn Scratch
Patience and enthusiasm for working with younger students
Strong communication and listening skills
Time Commitment:
1 to 3 hours per week for up to 8 to 12 weeks or select weeks only
