Peak Performance Living
Bridgewater, Massachusetts
Impact Innovation Foundation is developing the Bridgewater Peak Performance Living Research and Education Initiative in partnership with Peak Performance Living. This IIF project studies how living environments, wellness practices, food systems, sustainable infrastructure, and community connection influence well-being and quality of life. Bridgewater will provide a setting for examining these relationships over time. The project will turn what is learned into educational programs, public resources, and findings that inform future communities.
Why This Research Matters
Daily life is shaped by the places people live, the resources they can access, and their opportunities to connect with others. Lighting, air quality, noise, food access, energy costs, and shared spaces all create questions that deserve careful study.
The Bridgewater project brings these questions into a real living environment. Research will help identify which features contribute to measurable outcomes and where improvements are needed.
Research Focus
-
Living environments and well-being. Planned studies examine lighting, air and water quality, temperature, noise, and access to nature alongside measures of sleep, stress, comfort, concentration, and quality of life. The goal is to understand how specific environmental conditions relate to daily experience.
-
Recovery and wellness. Research will examine selected wellness practices and technologies within the living environment. Initial priorities include sleep, stress, fatigue, and participant-reported well-being.
-
Agriculture, food systems, and nutrition. The on-site farm is planned as a setting for agricultural research, education, and community participation. Research areas include hydroponics, regenerative growing practices, food production, water efficiency, food access, and nutrition education.
-
Community connection. Planned research examines how shared spaces and activities influence belonging, social interaction, participation, and community satisfaction. Findings will help inform programming and the design of future communities.
-
Sustainable infrastructure. Environmental monitoring will examine energy generation and consumption, water use, building performance, and agricultural resource use as systems become available. This work will help document how sustainability features perform in practice.
Education Through the Project
Our research will support learning opportunities for students, families, practitioners, and community members. Planned programming includes agriculture, nutrition, sustainability, wellness, technology demonstrations, and workforce education. Findings will be developed into reports, guides, workshops, and other accessible resources. These materials will help people apply relevant knowledge in their communities and professional work.
Building Knowledge Over Time
The research will begin with baseline measurements and focused studies, then expand into longer-term research as the community becomes operational. Consistent measures will make it possible to examine changes in environmental conditions, participant experiences, and community outcomes. Public findings will document what is learned and help guide future research and community development.
Collaborate with IIF
IIF welcomes researchers, universities, educators, technology partners, and community organizations interested in the Bridgewater project. Opportunities include environmental monitoring, agricultural research, wellness studies, student learning, and public education.
